Is H’s Angus Beef Belly really the ‘Most Awesome’ in the Metro?
Being situated right next door to the immensely popular Rub Ribs seems to come as a blessing to H Cuisine due to the free exposure it gets from a high volume of human traffic. In addition, hungry diners who can’t stand to wait out the lunchtime queue in Rub Ribs under the scorching noon sun may simply hop into H Cuisine’s welcoming front door.
TOFU STEAK WITH SWEET SHIITAKE SAUCE (P178)
We started off with a light Asian appetizer, the Tofu Steak. Silky smooth tofu rounds wrapped in a thin coating were perfectly deep-fried, and delicate to the bite. The shiitake sauce had a teriyaki-base, with a sweetness that does not overpower. I loved that the kitchen didn’t skimp on this sauce wonder.
BREADED CHICKEN PARMESAN ROLLS (P248 – Single with Rice; P388 – Sharing without Rice)
In contrast to the appetizing plating of the Tofu Steak, the Breaded Chicken Parmesan Rolls was just the plain opposite, aesthetic-wise, and taste-wise. There was too much mayonnaise placed in the dish that made the chicken pieces mushy, and too sweet. It’s definitely something I’d never want to try it again.
CLAMS IN GARLIC – INFUSED EVOO LINGUINE (P288)
The Clams in Garlic-Infused EVOO was a lovely combination of basil, capsicum, and tomato chunks. This olive-oil based pasta is definitely packed with so much flavor that would be perfectly enjoyed for those practicing abstinence for the rest of the Lenten season.
FISH TRAFALGAR IN LINGUINE (P288)
The linguine of the Fish Trafalgar had a pleasant truffle essence in it; however, one disappointing thing about the dish was that the fried fish pieces ended up too soggy. Perhaps, they could have forgone frying the fish, and simply tossed them in the light cream sauce until cooked.
THE MOST AWESOME ANGUS BEEF BELLY (P308 - Single with Rice/P528 - Sharing without Rice)
Of course, the highlight of the meal would be its house specialty, which H Cuisine confidently hails as The Most Awesome Angus Beef Belly. Is it? Well, the slices of beef definitely had the heavenly melt-in-your-mouth quality, and were wonderfully succulent. The demi-glace made the beef tasty and mouthwatering to devour. Given these, it’s fair to say that it’s definitely pretty awesome. The best part? You can easily bring these delicious slabs home!
