My sister and I have been craving hard for Lugang Café’s Chicken Topped with Scallions and Ginger Oil, but its price tag + delivery fee was a tad bit too much for us to be willing to shell out on for a regular weekday work-from-home lunch. Fortunately, Facebook groups such as Fil Chi Ho Tsia/Ho Dim serves as a perfect way for home-based purveyors to showcase their offerings to hungry diners like us. It’s through this group that we discovered about Aca’s, a purveyor who's simply focused on two main offerings: Spring Onion Chicken and Char Siu..
SPRING ONION CHICKEN (P350/P700)
We ended up ordering a whole Spring Onion Chicken for P700 (vs. an ala carte order of P498 + shipping fee from Lugang Café), which we simply picked up ourselves. One thing I loved about it was that they subscribe to the mantra that there’s no such thing as too much Spring Onion Ginger sauce. Apart from generously smothering their juicy chicken slices with the mind-blowing tasty sauce, they also sneak in two extra packs of their sauces in the tub. If that’s not enough, you can actually purchase additional sauce servings! We were really genuinely happy with this save for the fact that we all helped ourselves to extra servings of rice to pair up with this. There's no way cutting down on rice when this is around!

BEIRUTI BITE EXPRESS
This pandemic has definitely made me more cautious in my spending habits. I never really had a set budget for food, clothes, etc; but I do strictly adhere to a monthly budget. When it’s thinning out AND I don’t have baon during my work-on-site days, I really scour for discounted or promo meals on Foodpanda or Grab. Thus, my office lunch delivery from Beiruti Bite Express came about from such activity.
BEEF SHAWARMA RICE (P126.75)
I’ve noticed that Jollibee solo lunch deliveries aren’t really that cheap as they either come packaged with a delivery fee (Foodpanda) or a small order penalty (GrabFood). Beiruti Bite Express’s discounted rice meals easily beats out a classic Jollibee order in terms of price as it already comes packaged with free delivery. Probably one of the most unphotogenic meals I’ve had in a while, the Beef Shawarma Rice exists to satiate. It’s forgettable, but packs enough just the right amount of flavor that you’d end up wiping the container clean. It’s fuss-free, fast, convenient and offers a nice alternative from fast-food lunches!

HEARTHLY BITES
This was definitely case of love at first sight. Upon seeing Hearthly Bites's post about this glorious tub of steamed egg, I quickly made an inquiry about their soonest delivery date! They do have other items on their menu such as the Special Egg Tofu with Kalabasa-Mushroom Sauce, but it was their Special Pork and Shrimp Steamed Egg which captivated me.
SPECIAL PORK AND SHRIMP STEAMED EGG (P620)
I’m huge fan of chawanmushi so the sight of this huge tub of steamed egg definitely made me excited. An order features a hefty tub of smooth egg custard that’s accompanied with a subtle umami flavor. A neat layer of ground pork and shrimp can be found on top. At first glance, it does seem that the ratio of topping-to-egg is grossly understated, but once you bite into the flavorful and fragrant ground topping, you’d realize that the balance of flavors is simply perfect. The golden-brown and green onion garnish don’t only lend the dish a nice pop of color, but also a refreshing crunch and contrast to each bite. I seldom order from purveyors based in Manila City, but they're definitely an exception!
