100 Revolving Restaurant: Where the Soufflés are Better than the View

Perched on the top floor of the MDC tower, the 100 Revolving Restaurant has been a favorite dinner date place because of its promise of a 360˚ view of the city. The highly coveted tables are securely settled on a ‘walkalator’ which completes its revolution in roughly two hours. At one point, it even allows you to take a peek into its open kitchen!

We dined through a thunderstorm, so the view outside was mostly lightning and rain (and slightly terrifying). When the skies finally cleared up, we were left with the scenic view of our city traffic. Thus, we decided to just focus our attention on the food served in front of us.

CAESAR SALAD (CHICKEN – P350, SHRIMP POPCORNS – P450, CRISPY CALAMARI – P300)

We kicked off our dinner opting to pair our Caesar Salad with deep-fried squid rings. Fresh greens layered with shaved parmesan cheese and a handful of crunchy bacon bits made this a decent Caesar Salad.

FRENCH ONION SOUP (P260)

We then enjoyed the best tasting French Onion Soup I’ve had so far; with the goeey melted cheese layer which breaks open to an immensely flavorful onion broth. Each spoonful was a delectably rich experience!

DRAGON MAKI

The Dragon Maki features a bite of tempura shrimp in each piece; but its winning factor would be the sultry toasted flavor of the black sesame seeds which enveloped each roll.

PASTA A LA CHEF JESSIE (P795)

Now, on to the pasta dish which carries the name of Chef Jessie herself which boasts of a seafood feast on a plate. Fresh scallops, succulent shrimps, and a tasty medley of crunchy asparagus, pungent sundried tomatoes, and fresh mushrooms make up 90% of the dish; setting the noodles to a considerable minority. This would be one of the rare occasions that I didn’t mind that there was more meat than there was noodles; because each bite was an explosion of flavour.

DUCK CONFIT WITH CRISPY SKIN (P850)

Coming a close second to D&B, Chef Jessie’s take on the Duck Confit is a pretty good one! Crisp skin, fall-off-the-bone tender and well-seasoned meat seem to cover all the bases. The best thing about the dish is the creamy potato gratin that it came with. An extra scoop of it would always be welcome in my tummy.

CHOCOLATE SOUFFLE AND MANGO SOUFFLE

The highlight of the night would of course be its interesting selection of Chef Jessie’s soufflés. It doesn’t only come in dozens of flavors, from Spinach and Cheese soufflés, to Blueberry and Ginger soufflés; but it also comes in different sizes to fit your appetite. The Chocolate Souffle was wonderful and worth the 20 minute wait. The crust was beautiful; and from a picky chocolate eater, the chocolate was divine. The Mango Souffle was another pleasant treat, with its sweet and tart flavors.

If there’s one thing that would draw you back for another visit, it would definitely be their soufflés. However, I’d have to add that their service is impeccable and truly warm! In my next visit though, I think I’ll pass on the revolving tables and simply settle for the fixed tables. Experiencing the revolution once is enough for me!
