Delivery Snippets: Andy’s Good Eats x Salmon HQ x Kodawari
ANDY’s GOOD EATS
My first introduction to Andy’s Good Eats would probably be more than 5 years ago – when I was still working in BPI Corporate Banking – my colleague and friend, Michelle ordered in Momofuku Pork Buns for our team to devour – and it was love at first messy drippy bite.
MOMOFUKU PORK BUNS (P750/P1350)
Back then, delivery and courier services weren’t as accessible as they are today so you’d have to do personal pick-up’s from their home in Makati – however, I didn’t mind doing so as their pork buns are unparalleled (yes, for me, I’d opt for theirs over buns from Ippudo– which I personally adore already any given day). The pork belly is cooked sous vide to ensure that the meat is juicy, while its skin is fried crisp (although, this sometimes wavers in quality in poor delivery conditions). Help yourself to spoonfuls of hoisin sauce, sriracha sauce and cucumbers to lend that harmony in flavor and contrasting textures in each bite!
BEEF BELLY AMIYAKI (P1250/P2300)
For something more substantial, they do have party trays such as the Beef Belly Amiyaki – which boasts of tender melt-in-your mouth sizeable beef belly slices that come with a sweet sauce.
HAINANESE CHICKEN RICE (P750/P1350)
The sous vide party continues on with their Hainanese Chicken Rice – ensuring that the chicken pieces are tender and juicy. Although I’m pretty biased towards my mom’s own Hainanese Chicken Rice, Andy’s Good Eats’s version is a pretty good alternative given its fragrant rice and flavorful chicken broth.
SALTED EGG CHIPS (P275/P650)
Apart from its Pork Buns, one of the things that made Andy’s Good Eats legendary in my books would be its Salted Egg Chips. Hands down – my ultimate favorite salted egg chips. Irvin, who? Andy’s Good Eats’s chips showcase a perfect balance in flavor that doesn’t get overwhelming (although this does put you in danger of over-eating as they're incredibly addictive)– and maintains just the right amount of crunch all the time.

SALMON HQ
I’ve never been shy of my love and adoration for Salmon HQ’s fare - so it’s no wonder that I just keep ordering from them! The Poke Nachos was simply groundbreaking – the crisp wanton nachos lend more texture than the usual salted seaweed sheets – elevating the entire experience of eating sashimi when munching on it. It was incredibly light (as it came with no sushi rice) and refreshing – as the poke mixture was purely made of sashimi layered with mayonnaise, nori toppings and ebiko.
POKE NACHOS (Small – P700) and SPICY SALMON POKE (P550)
The Spicy Salmon Poke was just okay with me – don’t get me wrong – it was a beautifully colorful bowl that featured fresh salmon cubes smothered in a light spicy mayonnaise sauce, fresh seaweed, incredibly sweet golden yellow mango cubes, fresh cucumbers and a handful of crushed kani under a generous scooping of ebiko. On its own, it’s delicious – but I can’t help but feel regret that I didn’t get its Happiness Bowl instead. Given, the price points of both bowls are starkly different – however, if budget permits, always opt for the Happiness Bowl.

KODAWARI
CHASHUDON (P900/P1800)
Gyudon was the dish that set Kodawari abuzz as a delivery-only food purveyor during the pandemic (although it has recently opened its dine-in concept). It was my sister who first raved about it – but somehow, I wasn’t won over by it. It was simply just okay.
Fortunately, it came out with other variants such as the Chashudon and the Shroomdon that instantly made me a Kodawari convert.
The Chashudon was filled with enormous chunks of smoky, tender and juicy chashu atop rice flavored with a fragrant tonkotsu broth. Personally, I’d prefer the chashu chunks to be in smaller slices – but apart from that – it’s a perfect carnivorous treat. The ratio of meat to rice is insane – that you’d definitely have enough chashu leftover despite wiping the rice clean!
SHROOMDON (P1100/P2200)
The Chashudon’s already top-tier donburi but somehow, Kodawari is able to top that with its glorious Shroomdon! A majestic medley of enoki, shimeji, shiitake and king oyster mushrooms generously atop fragrant rice – it’s definitely a taste of heaven in every bite. It’s incredibly flavorful – and the amount of mushrooms stuffed in this tray justifies its price! One glance of its photo – and I’m salivating and badly craving for it already.
