Delivery Snippets: Booya Bagels x Mazendo x Sweet Ecstasy
BOOYA BAGELS
Booya Bagels’ is currently my go-to purveyor for anything bagels – from bagel sandwiches, to bagels and schmears and even their incredibly addicting bagel chips after my sister recommended it to me.
LOX BAGEL SANDWICH (P535)
Its Lox Bagel Sandwich commands quite a hefty price tag – but you’d soon find it actually reasonable once you see the generous amount of smoked salmon layered with Booya Bagels' herb and garlic schmear, capers and dill inside their Everything Bagel. This is definitely filling – that I found it quite a struggle to finish my second half. Their take on Lox would make you not want to order this from popular brunch/all-day breakfast restaurants anymore.
ITALIAN BAGEL SANDWICH (P420)
Its Italian Bagel Sandwich is also an amazingly tasty alternative – as it boasts of layers of deliciously cured meats – pepperoni, salami and ham in between layers of cream cheese, cheddar cheese and mozzarella cheese; and balanced by a delicious honey mustard – all sandwiched between its Sesame Bagel.
PB&J BAGEL SANDWICH (P255)
If you have someone to split your bagels with, I highly recommend splitting a savory and sweet bagel into two! Its PB&J Bagel Sandwich is immensely indulgent – and incredibly hefty. Layers of its delicious peanut butter infused with caramel macchiato meshed with its hibiscus-infused grape jelly is a combination to die for! Layers of these two are sandwiched between their café con leche Bagel. It elevates the classic PB&J to a completely new heights.

MAZENDO
Mazendo’s juicy dumplings are unfairly underrated – I wouldn’t mind getting a regular fix of their delicious dumplings; however, its initial branches – in S Maison (non-operational already) and Makati are quite inconvenient for me to get to so I was incredibly ecstatic to find out that they opened a branch in Capital Commons, Pasig (and amazingly available via Grabfood)!
DUMPLING NOODLE SET/SESAME NOODLES (P300)
The branch shares a spot with its sister concept, Chatime – so you can easily bundle an order of fruit tea or milk tea with your hot meals. I have never been fond of its noodles – but as they don’t really have a dumpling rice set; opting for a Dumpling Noodle Set would already be the best thing to order for solo dining. I opted for the Sesame Noodles – as it felt the ‘simplest’ among the noodle choices which include Zhajiang Mian, Sichuan Style and Chili Oil. An order comes with four plump juicy dumplings (I opted for Steamed), dumpling sauce and perfectly tangy pickled cucumbers.

SWEET ECSTASY
My go-to order from Sweet Ecstasy has always been what used to be an off-menu item that has since made it as part of its regular menu, the ever juicy purist burger, The Steamburger (P300). When dining with family/friends, I’d add in an order or two of its sides – go-to favorites would be its Onion Rings (P180), Kamote Fries (P140) and Pickle Fries (P160).
However, I got pretty excited when Sweet Ecstasy added two seafood patty additions to its lineup this year: the Filet x Fish and Filet x Shrimp! Initially meant to be seasonal items meant for Holy Week 2023, they since made these regulars due to their popularity. Both come with quality and hefty perfectly fried fish and shrimp patties; respectively; however, I can’t help but favoring the Filet x Fish more particularly as it fills the empty gap in my stomach vacated by the discontinuation of Mcdonald’s Filet o’ Fish.
