Delivery Snippets: Elephant Grounds x Kumakuma Curry x Prime Crab PH
ELEPHANT GROUNDS
I’ve yet to dine in any Elephant Grounds branches, here or abroad; but after my delightful take-out experience of its Guanciale Carbonara, I became an instant fan. Fortunately, it’s onboarded as a Grabfood merchant, making its food accessible. Unfortunately, only its Cold Brew made it to the drinks available via this on-demand delivery service.
DUCK KRAPOW (P560) AND COLD BREW (P170)
One thing I love about Elephant Grounds is its attention to detail. Its Duck Krapow boasts of a multitude of flavors, textures and colors – from its stir-fried duck lusciously glazed in a lip-smacking sauce, to its golden crispy fried egg over a bowl of Japanese rice and its papaya salad side that helps give a refreshing acidity and balance to an umami-filled bowl. The thoughtful gesture of including hand-written notes in your delivery bag across The Standard Group of restaurants is also extended here. I’m not a big fan of their Cold Brew, but to be fair, it may have been watered down during delivery.
BACON STEAK DONBURI (P520)
Its Bacon Steak Donburi is another work of art. When I was younger, I’d salivate over Poco Deli’s Bacon Slab; but over the years, I ended up outgrowing it as I felt the slabs getting greasier and its meat-to-fat ratio getting more undesirably deadly. Enter Elephant Grounds’ Bacon Steak Donburi. The thick slices of smoked bacon came with a perfect meat-to-fat ratio. This was served with a divinely creamy scrambled egg and balanced out with a roasted eggplant salad topped with sweet tomatoes. Definitely a polished and sophisticated version of Poco Deli's Bacon Slab.

KUMAKUMA CURRY
If you’re looking for a unique dining experience at home, Kumakuma Curry is guaranteed to deliver. Each of its curry rice sets comes beautifully wrapped in a practical, reusable and eco-friendly traditional Japanese cloth called Furoshiki. Unwrapping it is an absolutely divine experience!
SPICY SIGNATURE BEEF CURRY WITH GOUDA (P510)
Its house special is the Signature Beef Curry which spoils the diner to two curry variants: a short plate curry (which leans close to the traditional Japanese curry we’re accustomed to) and dry beef curry (spiced ground beef topped with gouda cheese). Spice level is customizable, and each plate comes with rice topped with a colorful and beautiful medley of carrots, beets and radish. I enjoyed my Spicy Signature Beef Curry with Gouda but admittedly, I’m drawn more towards its Butter Chicken Karaage with Onsen Egg and Gouda (P470) as it perfectly fuses Japanese and Indian curry influences.

PRIME CRAB PH
I’m not a big crab eater but I can’t help but get excited over Crab Sotanghon. Such love started with family lunches spent in King Crab in San Juan devouring its Crab Sotanghon. One crab piece is enough to get me by the entire meal as long as I had enough servings of the Sotanghon.
CRAB SOTANGHON (P2400) + EXTRA SOTANGHON (P150)
My siblings and I wanted to order some crab for this year’s Mother’s Day as our mom absolutely adores all things crab. Fortunately, my sister’s friend owns a crab-centric home-based concept called Prime Crab PH. A tray comes with approximately 1.4 kilos of sweet freshly cooked crab (which definitely made mom happy), but the highlight for me was obviously, the tasty sotanghon. Prime Crab PH thoughtfully gave extra broth on the side so that the noodles won’t soak the tray dry during delivery. To be fair, I think the Extra Sotanghon was a bit too much, even for me as we had more than enough leftover for another meal! However, too much of a delicious thing is always a good thing!
Now, I’m quite excited to try out its other variant, the classic Singaporean Chili Crab.
