Delivery Snippets: Flowerboy x Cloudé x Kam’s Roast

FLOWERBOY

In recent years, Nakhon Thai and Boa Kitchen’s Pad Thai quickly cemented their status as my top two Pad Thai’s in Manila. Unfortunately, since the pandemic hit, Nakhon Thai’s socials seemed to be inactive so I don't know how else to order from them. Fortunately, Boa’s is just near my house so delivery is relatively fast and shipping is cheaper.

CHICKEN PAD THAI (P320)

However, it was difficult to ignore ads of Flowerboy’s Chicken Pad Thai that keep popping out on my socials as the mouthwatering photos, coupled with the signature wit of the Lowbrow team were definitely difficult to ignore. I have previously sampled its Pad Thai, when dining-in was still a thing. Back then, I didn’t find anything remarkable about it but this can be attributed to the fact that we easily ordered a dish or two from roughly half of the stalls there. My attention back then was focused on my tsukemen from Tsuke-men.

So, I caved in to my cravings and gave it a second try. Visually, it was absolutely gorgeous. The box sustained the neat plating of the noodles despite it coming all the way from Rockwell. Apart from a crispy golden fried egg, chives, crunchy beansprouts and a wedge of lime are also served alongside it. They also give you some crushed peanuts and chili to further dress your noodles. No matter how much you dress up your pad thai, the smoky noodles are incredibly tasty on their own to be ignored.

CLOUDÉ

Beautifully wrapped in a delicate Furoshiki silk and topped with sweet, plump and fresh organic strawberries, Cloudé’s Strawberry Tres Leches is guaranteed to make any recipient swoon. The best part about this is that it tastes as heavenly as it looks. It needs to come with a warning though! Its light and fluffy cake lusciously soaked in delicious milk can be incredibly addictive!

KAM’S ROAST

When Kam’s Roast first opened up in SM Megamall, it attracted long queues of diners that commanded a waiting time of 30 to 45 minutes. Back then, the quality of its meats was already undeniable but the grueling wait was simply unbearable, especially since you can easily get HK fare conveniently from other restaurants at more affordable price tags.

ROAST DUCK AND BBQ PORK ON NOODLES (P418)

Like all other restaurants, Kam’s Roast had to adjust to the changes brought about by Covid-19. Solo servings are more readily available, offering flexible options of roasted meat on both rice and noodles. It also quickly had itself onboarded as a merchant in Grab and Foodpanda. Thanks to this adjustment, I can now nurse a roasted meat/HK noodle craving on demand! Kam’s Roast is definitely not cheap, especially when compared to Tai Koo (in nearby Podium) and established concepts like North Park and Mann Hann, but it’s worth every peso. I was served with choice cuts of Roasted Duck (no scrawny boney slices) and BBQ Pork (which boast of a perfect meat-to-fat ratio). The bed of noodles also have a perfect bite to them; but they do end up clumping up post-delivery so make sure to leave some of its clear soup at bay to moisten them up every now and then.
