Delivery Snippets: La Paradilla x Tiong Bahru x Conti’s


LA PARADILLA

I’ve always loved barbecued meats – and for a quick convenient fix, La Paradilla has been making its way to your favorite malls’ food halls/food courts! Since it has a branch in Megamall, it’s conveniently on-demand via Grab app to my office in Ortigas.


BARBECUE BEEF BRISKET (P229)

It’s not the most IG-worthy slab of brisket, but it’s definitely filling as it comes with a hefty serving of rice. A spoonful of buttered vegetables is added into the mix to give a semblance of a complete and balanced meal. The brisket is well-seasoned, tender and smoky, has a decent meat-to-fat ratio and comes with a barbecue sauce that’s a bit too sweet for my liking (I made the mistake of drizzling the whole cup over my meat). Sauce-aside though, it’s perfectly tasty on its own!

TIONG BAHRU

The Roti Shop is my go-to Singaporean restaurant for Roasted Hainanese Chicken (for White Hainanese Chicken, nothing beats my mom’s); but since a Tiong Bahru branch opened up in Estancia Mall, I decided to try it out via Grabfood.



ROASTED HAINANESE CHICKEN (P354)

I was happy that I tried it as it was stellar – despite going through delivery conditions – the skin of the chicken was still crisp, its meat – still juicy and hot! It didn’t come with the traditional ginger sauce and chili sauce – but the sticky soy sauce was flavorful enough to carry the entire meal. I loved the touch of freshly sliced cucumbers – definitely a nice ode to how it’s served in Singaporean hawker centers.

CONTI’S

Conti’s isn’t really top-of-mind when it comes to office lunch deliveries but I fortunately chanced upon its menu and learned about its Surf n’ Turf Plate, which features a slice of their house specialty Baked Salmon, Beef Salpicao cubes, Buttered Vegetables and Paella Rice.

SURF N’ TURF PLATE (P626.75)

Truly, each and every component of this plate delivers on quality and flavor – its baked salmon was absolutely divine – with its indulgently to-die-for cheesy top and its perfectly cooked juicy salmon fillet, its tender and fragrant beef salpicao, its buttered vegetables and well-seasoned paella rice. My only negative comment about this is that – its serving size isn’t really enough – it left me hungry despite paying quite a hefty sum for the entire meal. Yes, the quality and flavor was there – but if I’m paying that much and I’m not filled up, it may be better to spend it elsewhere.
