Delivery Snippets: PorkMaru Crispy Pata x Calle Nakpil x Truffle, Truly
PORKMARU CRISPY PATA
Crispy Pata is my ultimate weakness – so when I came across an ad from PorkMaru (yes, they’ve hit their target their audience extremely well, haha) – I just had to try it. Their menu is pretty limited to heart attack-inducing pork-centric dishes so trying out all of them in one go seems like a death wish – in the end, we decided to go with two of their pork dishes – their Crispy Pata and their Dinakdakan.
CRISPY PATA (P699), DINAKDAKAN (P249), LAING (P179) and ATCHARA (P109)
Their Crispy Pata was decent – especially considering that it had to endure delivery conditions – the meat was still tender (but could have been tastier), its skin was crispy and it came with a nice blend of spiced soy sauce. However, it was its Dinakdakan that stole the show – everything about it was spectacular. The pork slices remained crunchy despite being topped with its incredibly addictive mayo-based sauce. I love the treatment of their mayo-based sauce – as they made sure it wasn’t overly rich so definitely, you won’t get no umay feeling! Crunchy onions help add some kick to this amazing dish. To infuse some healthier balance to our meal, we ordered its spicy Laing – which isn’t really good if you’re on a rice diet as each spoonful of its Laing commands to be chased by a spoonful of rice itself! Unfortunately, its Atchara has already been phased out as it wonderfully cuts through all the greasiness and guilt throughout the meal. Hope it makes a comeback soon!

CALLE NAKPIL
I was pretty excited to order from Calle Nakpil's interesting selection; however, since our delivery date fell on Father’s Day, they restricted orders to full sized platters only (which is ideal for 8 to 10 pax). As a family of 5, its half-sized platter would have been more ideal for us so that we could try more of its dishes.
PORCHETTA (P3550) and GAMBAS AL AJILLO (P1890)
We ended up selecting their Porchetta and pairing it with their Gambas Al Ajillo. Its Porchetta was delicious – picture-perfect uniformed slices of their rolled roasted pork belly came tastily stuffed with caramelized onions and peppers. An order comes with its fragrant Spanish rice and two sauces – its salsa verde and chimichurri. Its Gambas Al Ajillo adds more value for your money as apart from its perfectly-cooked 500 grams of shrimp that's loaded with garlic, they toss in grilled tender pulpo and smokey slices of chorizo! It’s paired with Tomato Garlic Bread that resembled a beautiful focaccia with all the gorgeous toppings it had on.

TRUFFLE, TRULY
I am well aware that steak doesn’t travel well but I was craving hard for it that I decided to finally try out Truffle, Truly's steak-on-demand. At that time, they were offering a promo called the Steak Sampler Kit which paired their steak with Truffle Butter Rice and Truffle Pasta.

Surprisingly, the steak was still pretty tender when it arrived – but as it was quite cold already, I had to unfortunately heat it up. The serving sizes were just perfect – it’s not so much that you’d feel overloaded with carbs but big enough that you’d be able to enjoy several mouthfuls of both. Personally, I prefer the Truffle Pasta because of its large slices of mushroom over the Truffle Butter Rice; but both are decent sides to their reasonably priced USDA Angus steak!
