KROB KUN

If you’re looking for a delicious but sulit meal in Bangkok, you can’t go wrong with Krob Kun. It specializes on deep-fried pork, but it also has a decent selection of rice meals that you can choose from.

STIR FRIED CRISPY PORK WITH SALT AND CHILI (THB140)

I opted for the Stir-Fried Crispy Pork with Salt and Chili and it was simply glorious! Don’t forget to top this flavor bomb of a meal with their epic chili sauce! To manage the guilt, Krob Kun throws in some greens and a slice of cucumber (which does come in handy in neutralizing the heat). A rice meal comes with a bowl of clear soup (that’s reminiscent of miso soup) and a glass of iced cold Jasmine tea.

HONMONO SUSHI

My friend was craving hard for Japanese food so a quick google search on the nearest ‘decently’ rated Japanese restaurant led us to Honmono Sushi.

We had zero expectations which was why we were surprised at how sleek, clean and professional everything looked – with an extensive display of fresh seafood that led to a row of Japanese sushi chefs focused on their craft and a front of house service crew seeing us to our table. The aroma of their coffee will definitely tempt anyone – so naturally, I helped myself to a glass of Iced Americano.

What we thought was a simple hole-in-a-wall turned out to be an authentic and modern Japanese restaurant which boasted of a menu stacked with so much items that it made it difficult to choose!

We were served with complimentary edamame and deep-fried shoestring onion rings. It was my first time eating onion rings in a Japanese restaurant – but as it was a perfectly fried treat, I was definitely not one to complain.

FOIE GRAS UNAGI IKURA DON (THB850)

I decided to be a little indulgent and went with the Foie Gras Unagi Ikura Don – eating foie gras in a Japanese restaurant was another first! This luxurious dish was definitely heavenly in each bite. The foie gras slices were as huge as the unagi slices – so, yes, prepare the heart for this!

We ended the meal with a delightful slice of sweet Japanese melon and an atis-meal – on the house!

This restaurant was an absolutely perfect discovery!
