Mrs. Saldo's Pretty Plates in Pretty Spaces

For our mom’s 60th birthday last July, we treated her to a surprise Tagaytay staycation – and of course, the main itinerary for our 3D2N stay was simply comprised of hitting the bustling food scene in Tagaytay.

We loved that they gave us a beautiful private room adorned with lush greenery and flowers; and intricate interiors that made us feel like we were dining in the middle of a garden – but rest assured, it’s a fully air-conditioned room!

CRAB DIP WITH SOURDOUGH (P850)

A visit to Mrs. Saldo’s cannot be complete without having a bite of its freshly baked Sourdough – heck, I won’t judge you if it’s the only thing you’d order from them -as it’s excellent – definitely, one of the best sourdoughs I’ve ever tasted. We paired it with the Crab Dip – a skillet filled with layers of creamy baked cheese and crabmeat. At first glance, the serving size looks like it won’t be enough for sharing but a little bit goes a long way for its flavorful dip– and you’d definitely have excess dip to papak on its own.

GUMBO IN SOURDOUGH (P695)

It was a rainy lunch time when we were dining in Mrs. Saldo’s, so an order of their Gumbo was definitely a warm delight. Wonderfully hearty and creamy, the Gumbo itself was flavorful – but it’s a sin not to opt for the sourdough bowl version!

Any pandan-drink is a weakness of mine so I helped myself to a glass of their Pandan Tarragon (P220) and it was amazingly refreshing! Definitely, a must-try as well!

PAN-FRIED SALMON (P1690)

The Pan-Fried Salmon is a beautiful canvass of color as its perfectly cooked pinkish salmon with its browned crisped skin, served atop a bright yellow saffron risotto with edible flowers and lumpfish caviar. The salmon was well-seasoned; but the risotto looked prettier than it tasted. It’s flavorful and well-prepared; but it’s not mind-blowingly memorable.

STEAK FRITES (P3590)

Our main dish was a 300g NY Striploin Steak which was generously served with a marsala demiglace. Personally, I’m not a big fan of steaks served with sauces (I’m a salt-and-pepper kind of steak girl), but I can’t hate on it as the demiglace was so fun to dip the fries in. Overall, this was also just okay. Honestly, I found myself more impressed by the starters we had and the interiors of the place - than its main dishes.

We treated ourselves to some coffee and dessert while waiting for the rain to stop. After which, their serving staff invited us to tour around the property.

They have so much lush green spaces where you can lounge in when the weather is better. Mrs. Saldo is also no stranger to hosting wedding proposals so I’m sure some of these spots would have popped up on your feed already!

Towards the far end of the property, you’d also be able to see their bakery in action – as well as their private function event spaces available for rent.
