Papa Pancitan: A Playful Alternative to Classic Pinoy Celebrations

Whenever there are celebrations/milestones at home and in the office, Amber’s Spaghetti/Palabok, Lumpiang Shanghai and Barbecue would always be part of the menu rotation. Admittedly, the anticipation and luster of an Amber celebration eventually dim after a few times.

Fortunately, the Moment Group’s Papa Pancitan offers an alternative that’s both familiar and quirky.

It offers celebration staples such as Spaghetti, Barbecue and Pancit Palabok but they always find a way to make things a little bit more interesting. Its Pancit Sisig is a powerhouse of flavor and texture in each bite. Hailing from the same creators of Manam’s famous House Crispy Sisig, you’re definitely in for a treat. Imagine an overloaded bilao of noodles generously topped with a dome of their famous sisig!

However, Papa Pancitan innovates on the classic noodle-as-palaman concept by offering the Fried Pepita Pao – deep fried cuapaos, which serve as glorious vessels for your noodles. It’s a guaranteed diet-killer but you’d definitely won’t regret it.

PANCIT SQUID NEGRA WITH GARLIC AIOLI – PAN PAMILYA (P538)

If you want a conversation starter, the Pancit Squid Negra will definitely stir up a buzz. Boasting of a combination of canton and bihon noodles gloriously bathed in a lip-smacking delicious squid ink sauce, the Pancit Squid Negra with Garlic Aioli can get a bit addictive to eat. Thank God that you’d have to subtly rinse your teeth with water in between bites, aiding you to feel full faster because without it, you’re guaranteed to overeat on carbs.

PANCIT SISIG – PAN PAMILYA + FRIED PEPITA PAO (P646), CRISPY PAPA-TA (P548) and PAPA’S UBE CHEESE BALLS (P128)

They do have Barbecue and Shanghai platters available but I opted for their Crispy Papa-Ta. Admittedly, it may be wiser choice to stretch your Crispy Pata budget by getting more barbecue or shanghai; especially as there wasn’t anything noteworthy about their Crispy Pata. It was a regular Crispy Pata which could have been crispier and could have been tastier.

Instead of serving its version of puto cheese or pichi pichi, Papa Pancitan’s dessert of choice aptly matched the dessert combination that defined this lockdown: Ube and Cheese. Admittedly, I’m not really a fan of ube, and I did find the balls a bit too dense for my liking but its dulce de leche dip is to-die-for. My sister who’s a fan of ube though, enjoyed devouring it so I guess it’ll pass the standards of ube fans.
